Get an inside look at the Stanford softball team each week. In this edition, junior Jenna Rich talks about the team taking its first trip to Utah.
Hello Cardinal fans! My name is Jenna Rich and I am a junior second baseman from El Segundo, Calif.
Last weekend was a blend of emotions as we hosted our last regular season home series, swept Washington and celebrated our three seniors- Jenna Becerra, Maya Burns, and Ashley Hansen. Cassandra Roulund and Teagan Gerhart also nabbed Pac-12 Player and Pitcher of the Week honors! Congrats to those two for an outstanding weekend.
Coming off our sweep, we now head into an uncharted territory... Utah. With the expansion of the Pacific-10 Conference, Utah has joined, so we have yet to travel to this school. But, the Stanford softball team is ready to take on the Utes in a new destination. Besides, a change of scenery will be nice and I hear the weather will be in the mid-70's.
As a team, we are approaching this weekend just like any other series. Despite never playing at this site before, we must all keep in mind that the field dimensions are all the same and that the game never changes. We will carry over the positive energy from last weekend and be sure to finish conference play strongly. While taking one game at a time, we won't lose sight of our team goal to be the last team with a win on its record at the end of the season. That means we plan on making a run for a national championship in Oklahoma City this June!
Be sure to support this amazing team and follow our games this weekend on Gametracker available on www.gostanford.com or stay updated on Twitter @StanfordSball. Also, don't forget to tune in to ESPNU Sunday night at 7 p.m. PT to find out the Stanford Cardinal's postseason fate!
