STANFORD, Calif. – Thursday’s Stanford Pro Timing Day will be broadcast live nationally by ESPN3 with the outdoor events also open to the public.
Twelve former Stanford football players will showcase their talents before representatives from all 32 NFL teams with the outdoor portion scheduled at approximately 11:15 a.m. PST (2:15 p.m. EST).
The day consists of classroom testing, weight room evaluations, on-field agility drills and football specific position drills. Pro Timing Day operates with a similar format to the NFL Combine held annually in Indianapolis each February.
An exact schedule has yet to be determined but the athletes will begin in the weight room with measurable such as vertical leap, broad jump, flexibility reach and bench press. On the field, athletes will likely be timed in the 40-yard dash, 20 and 60-yard shuttle, three-cone agility and position-specific drills.
“I'm very proud of this group of seniors, the most accomplished in school history,” said David Shaw, Stanford's Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football. “We're honored that ESPN has again chosen to broadcast our Pro Day and showcase our players. This is another sign that our program is continually producing men who will be productive in the NFL on top of being outstanding scholars.”
The class was the first in Stanford history to play in four straight bowl games and three BCS bowl games, including the school’s first Rose Bowl Game championship in 41 years. The group compiled a 43-10 record, including a 25-2 record at Stanford Stadium.
The event is open to the public with the exception of the weight room session.
GoStanford.com will have complete coverage of Pro Day, including a recap of the day's events, video highlights, interviews and photos.
This year's NFL Draft is scheduled for April 25-27 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
While these 12 players look to the future, so does the reigning Pac-12 champion Cardinal. The returning team opened spring practice Monday, Feb. 25, and will hold its third of four open practices on Saturday, April 6, at the Elliot Practice Field. The practice time will be announced on twitter via @StanfordFball. No cameras (still or video) or camera phones are permitted.
