Stanford, Calif. - The No. 8 Stanford women's lacrosse team heads back out on the road this week after five straight home games. The Cardinal will face a pair of top-10 teams in No. 2 Maryland on Thursday, March 25, before concluding the trip with No. 10 Towson on Sunday, March 28.
Stanford has won four consecutive games to climb to the No. 8 national ranking, the best in program history. Included in those four wins were defeats of two ranked teams (Ohio State and Vanderbilt).
Thursday's game pits Stanford against one of the best teams in the nation in the Maryland Terrapins. The Terps are undefeated at 8-0 and even stole a first-place vote in the IWLCA poll from No. 1 Northwestern, despite the Wildcats also being undefeated and the five-time defending NCAA Champions.
The game is a matchup of east versus west with Maryland widely considered the top program on the East Coast, while Stanford claims that status on the West Coast.
The Cardinal is 0-3 all-time against Maryland, including a 20-12 loss last season. The will be under the lights at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex with the action set to begin on the West Coast at 4:00 p.m.
Following the game at Maryland, the Cardinal will head to Towson, Md., for a matchup with No. 10 Towson. The Tigers are off the a 5-1 start with their only loss to No. 6 Syracuse. The game will be played at 10:00 am on the West Coast at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson.
