STANFORD, Calif. - After a close 2nd place finish to #1 USC at last weekend's McIntyre Team Race, the previously 14th-ranked Cardinal jumped to 6th in Sailing World's bi-monthly national rankings. The Coed team heads east today to sail at this weekend's annual Truxton-Umstead Intersectional at the US Naval Academy. Twenty schools total, representing all 7 college sailing districts, will be competing in the four-division event.

The Women's team did not compete over the past two weekends, and saw their ranking drop from 6th to 7th. They sail at the St Mary's College Intersectional in St Mary's City, Maryland this weekend. Favored to do well, the Cardinal sailing women will be competing against the top 18 teams from the 7 national districts.

After this weekend's regattas, the Coed and Women's Teams will be training in the chilly Patomac River with the Georgetown University Sailing Team. Next weekend, the Coeds will compete in the Southern New England Team Race at Connecticut College while the Women compete in the Emily Wick Regatta at Harvard.
