I'm feeling very southern right now because SWG's gonna be frequenting the south again soon. Athens, here we come! It was a great competition last night at LSU. We pretty much chilled out in the morning before the competition, did a little shopping, ate a little lunch. We performed our cheer once again and the freshmen impressed us with a "Who am I?" skit and another song. I guess we were in a musical mood this weekend. Then we learned about the universe's wildest rains on the history channel as we waited in the locker room for warm up to begin. Did you know that it rains 3000-degree iron on some brown dwarf star?
The competition started out a little rougher than we were expecting, with three 9.7's from our first three competitors on bars. But then the back three stepped it up with some huge sets and three 9.9's. It was all up from there, and beam was absolutely stellar. There were pretty much zero wobbles, not even the tiniest balance checks, and we stuck four dismounts cold. It was also exciting to see a couple 10's thrown in there from the nice SEC judges. They were totally deserved. Next we moved on to floor and thanks to some landing advice from Swizz, we nailed our routines. We knew that it was super close with LSU going into our last rotation because their last kid up on vault had gotten a 10.0, and we had our best vault rotation of the year but still came up just one tenth short.
But we are excited. If we can start a little smoother on bars and get those landings on our already huge vaults, we will be golden. We have room for improvement yet, and I am confident that we will peak at just the right time - in a little less than two weeks. See y'all down in Georgia!

We're way down south in Louisiana this weekend for Regionals. We compete tomorrow!
Today was a great day. Tabbs (Tabitha Yim) and I walked to Starbucks this morning for a little study session. Wow, it's humid here! But the warm nights are wonderful, they're one of the things I miss the most about home. Swizz picked up some Jason's Deli for lunch, and then we practiced at 4pm. It was one of the best pre-meet practices we've had as a team. Everyone was relaxed and got things done in as few turns as possible. We got out of there quickly so that we could make our dinner reservation at P.F. Chang's. We all love eating there, such great food! As we were finishing up dinner, a nice thunderstorm rolled in, lightning and thunder and the whole shebang! We don't get those out in Cali, either.
Our team activity for the night was a three-part musical, but I must say that a rendition of the Dixie Chicks? "Not Ready to Make Nice" made the show. After visualizations, we've all started winding down and getting some treatment done so that our bodies feel good for tomorrow. The seniors are gonna get together real quick before we go to bed so that we can remember our Regional Cheer from freshman year. It is a SWG tradition for the freshmen to make up a cheer for regionals and then perform it once again their senior year. This is going to be interesting.
Watch our competition tomorrow if you can! It's going to be an unforgettable night because we're all gonna be IN THE ZONE!!! Get 'em Card!
