STANFORD, Calif. - Hey y'all,

SWG had an incredible week! We started off Monday morning with a crazy cool bike workout. Then we had a great practice, getting full routines going on bars and some competitive partner work on beam. We're still doing lots of drills on vault, so when they let us go, we are going to have some huge and technically correct vaults.

Then, Wednesday, we ended practice with an awesome agility workout (for those of you who don't know, this is where we do lines of gymnastics across the floor with conditioning in between and also pressure skills on beam). We finished on a great note, sticking almost all our fronts.

We kicked off Thursday's workout with a bars and beam intrasquad. We are already doing full sets and there were some gigantic releases on bars! Then we went to beam and hit seven for seven! But Friday was probably my favorite workout. We got to see some of the alums, which is always exciting for us. Amy even did some gymnastics with us!! Amazing!! We had two really competitive challenges. Jenny thought we should do frosh and sophomores versus juniors and seniors (this was a great idea). We did a kip cast challenge on bars and a series challenge on beam. It brought out the best of us.

Friday night we went to the volleyball game (we won). And Saturday we had fanfest and went to the football game (we won too ). At halftime all the athletes went on the field for the Director's Cup presentation. We were a little disappointed because we didn't get to flip during the fight song (a super cool tradition), but it was fun.

Sunday was another great practice (I don't think SWG knows how to have bad practices). But we had a hard run, agility, events, and the crazy hard circuit at the end. We had a great time doing it though because we were all in it together. We got to see a few more alumni too!!!

Shout-outs to Carly who received our Yellow Jersey award (hardest worker) and Heather who got our Bazooka award (holds the team together). Everyone is looking really great, some more gymnastics from Cat who is on her way back from shoulder surgery, and there's just some great stuff everywhere you look in the gym!

We're really looking forward to cross-training this upcoming week (check back to hear about this). And, I think were on a great path and headed toward an unforgettable season!

Thanks for reading!

Shelley Alexander
