STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford senior oarswoman Elle Logan was named Pac-10 Women's Rowing Athlete of the Year Thursday, as the conference announced its All-Pac-10 rowing teams and honors.
Logan's selection marked the third time in the past four years that a Stanford oarswoman has been selected the Pac-10's Rowing Athlete of the Year. Roddy earned the honor in 2009 and Jessi Reel was honored in 2008.
The three-time CRCA All-American and 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist was recently named to her fourth straight CRCA All-West Region Team Wednesday. This year, Logan was again a key part of Stanford's I Eight boat which came within a half-second of the gold medal at the Pac-10 Championships two weeks ago.
Logan, Roddy and Dawson, along with the rest of the Cardinal squad, will begin competition at the 2011 NCAA Championships this Friday morning as the I Eight gets underway at 9 a.m.
Dawson, a sophomore from Christchurch, N.Z., made a big impact with the I Eight in her second season on The Farm. Wednesday, she was named to the CRCA All-West Region Second Team. Thursday's announcement marks her first All-Pac-10 selection.
Roddy, meanwhile, was named to the All-Pac-10 Team for the second time. A member of the Cardinal I Eight, Roddy, along with Logan, will go for the boat's second NCAA individual title this weekend at Lake Natoma after already capturing NCAA gold in 2009.
