Birmingham, Ala. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team swept a tri-meet against the University of Alabama and the University of Florida. The Cardinal scored 90 team points, while the UAB Blazers scored 72 and the UF Gators scored 36.
In the team competition, Stanford scored 93.7, just beating out Alabama's 91.7 points. This year's team features Ashley McHugh, Katie Rose Norris, Elizabeth-Anne Markman, Courtenay Stewart, Poppy Carlig, Samantha Duclos, Melissa Knight, Sara Lowe, and Cassidy Ramage.
Stanford's solo swimmer, Katie Rose Norris, scored 94 points during her routine to beat out Sara Petrov of UAB and her own teammate Katie Lynn Norris, who scored 89.5 and 87.5 points respectively.
In duet routines, Stanford took first and second. The pairing of Katie Rose Norris and Smantha Duclos scored 92.2 points for first while Courtenay Stewart and Sara Lowe took second with 91.8 points. The trio competition turned out the same, with Stanford taking first and second. Courtenay Stewart, Samantha Duclos, and Sara Lowe won 90.3 points. Cassidy Ramage, Poppy Carlig, and Melissa Knight finished second with 86.3 points.
Stanford travels to Gainesville, Florida to compete against Florida once again on Saturday, February 12.
