On Tuesday, Stanford head men's basketball coach Mike Montgomery will stop by to talk about the 17th-ranked Cardinal and the upcoming Pac-10 Men's Basketball Tournament.
Mike Montgomery is in his 16th season at Stanford with a record of 337-154. In 15 previous seasons at Stanford, Montgomery has directed the Cardinal to 13 post-season appearances (9 NCAA, 4 NIT). His overall record (15+ seasons at Stanford, 8 seasons at Montana) is 491-230. Montgomery was just named an assistant coach of USA Basketball's 2002 World Championship Team that will compete in the 2002 FIBA World Basketball Championship for Men (Aug. 29-Sept. 8, 2002) in Indianapolis. He is one of 20 finalists for Naismith College Basketball Coach of the Year. The winning coach will be honored on April 5 in Atlanta.
The 17th-ranked Cardinal (18-8, 11-5 Pac-10) will participate in the 2002 Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Tournament, held March 7-9 in Los Angeles, Calif. at the Staples Center. The top eight teams in the regular season standings will participate in the tournament with the winner receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
