STANFORD, Calif. - Hey Stanford Fans!
With many alumni returning for homecoming weekend, it was awesome having so many avid Stanford fans, supporters and people who absolutely love this university in one place. We were happy to welcome back many women's gymnastics alumnae and have them stick around to watch our weekly Friday game day. We started the day on floor where many girls showed off their dance routines. Dani rocked her ridiculously intense routine and Weedge finished with her amazing choreography as always. Next we headed to beam where our entire lineup was solid and performed dance sets with full dismounts. Shoutout to Amo for her explosive double tuck. We did full routines on bars for the first time this year, but it looked as if we had been doing them for weeks! Alyssa's routine was amazing and JP finished off her routine with a beautiful double layout. We ended the day on vault with some HUGE, sky-high vaults, and it was so exciting to see so many girls stick their vaults! It was a great way to end another fantastic game day.
We also had seven incredible recruits come for the weekend. On Saturday, the team had a morning brunch and spent the rest of the morning relaxing and hanging out. We headed over to a fun tailgate at Jimmy V's and then it was time for football! We watched our 12th-ranked football team dominate the game against Washington State. We all had a blast watching from our favorite front row seats near the 30-yard line and rooting the guys on with SWG's infamous and intense cheering along with frequent dancing. At halftime all of the Stanford athletes participated in the celebration of winning the 16th straight Director's Cup, awarded to the top athletic program in the nation. We all danced to the fight song on the field and when the "5, 6, 7, 8, wooo" part was played we all did back tucks at the 50-yard line!
By far the best part of the weekend was the return of Peach and Kristina. They both came back from World Championships after representing their countries and making the SWG family so proud of their accomplishments. It's awesome having them back in the gym and it's great for our team to be together again. We missed them so much! This week is our annual cross training week, where we participate in many non-gymnastics related activities. I'm looking forward to a fun-filled week and am excited to see everyone's ultra competitive side come out. Check back in to see how it goes!
