Stanford, Calif. - Stanford Football held its first two-a-day practices of training camp on Saturday at the Elliott Football Practice fields. High energy, enthusiasm and excitement were the order of the day as the level of intensity continues to improve with each session.
Unlike Friday's scrimmage, the defense clearly held the upper hand in the afternoon as they continually pressured the passer and kept the running game grounded. Michael Okwo and Peter Griffin both recorded sacks during the scrimmage, while Will Powers, Bo McNally and Udeme Udofia each had a tackle-for-loss.
Freshman Toby Gerhart handled the bulk of the load for the offense, carrying the ball five times for 20 yards. Ray Jones also added four carries, one of which was a nine-yard scamper up the middle. Nick Frank, Jason Evans and Anthony Kimble did not participate in the scrimmage.
