SOUTH BEND, Ind. - No. 20 Stanford lost another hard-fought game, this time to No. 20 Notre Dame, 17-14. The Cardinal drop to 0-3 as it attempts to navigate its difficult early schedule.
For a second-straight game, the Cardinal fell behind early and despite some renewed energy could not make up the difference. Notre Dame started fast and led 7-2 early on.
The Irish outshot the Cardinal 23-17 for the half and only 10 saves from Lyndsey Munoz even kept the game that close.
Stanford responded with a better second half, winning 10 of 13 draw controls and outshooting the Irish, 16-12. Howevever, Stanford could not get close enough to make it too interesting, losing 17-14.
Boeri completed her hat trick to lead the Cardinal offense, while Munoz made a career-high 17 saves.
Stanford will have to clean up its ball movement as the Card committed 26 turnovers to just 16 for Notre Dame. It will get its chance next weekend when it faces another ranked opponent back at Cagan Stadium.
The Cardinal face No. 9 James Madison on Saturday, February 25, at 1pm.
