COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) announced today the appointment of the following individuals to its Board of Directors:Bob Bowlsby (Palo Alto, Calif.), the Jaquish & Kenninger Director of Athletics at Stanford University and former Director of Athletics at the University of Iowa. John Hendricks (Silver Spring, Md.), the Founder and Chairman of Discovery Communications, which operates in 170 countries and territories with 1.4 billion subscribers globally. Two-time rowing Olympian (1992, 1996) Mary McCagg (Cambridge, Mass.), who was first appointed to the Board in 2004 under the new USOC governance structure.
In addition, the USOC announced the reappointment of three-time water polo Olympian (1988, 1992, 1996) Chris Duplanty (Newport Beach, Calif.) as Liaison from the Board of Directors to the U.S. Olympic Assembly.
The Board members were appointed by the USOC Nominating and Governance Committee, which was chaired by Jair Lynch (Washington, D.C.) and included Stephanie Streeter (Neenah, Wis.), Justice Ted Boehm (Indianapolis, Ind.), Julie Foudy (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Wayne Osness (Lawrence, Kan.).
Concluding their service to the USOC as members of the Board of Directors are Jim McCarthy (Durango, Colo.) and Dr. Harold Shapiro (Princeton, N.J.).
