Walnut Creek, Calif. - Stanford junior center Curtis Borchardt has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for February 26 - March 3, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Borchardt, from Redmond, Wash., averaged 23.5 points , 13 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in a Cardinal sweep at the Arizona schools.
Against Arizona, Borchardt tallied 28 points on 8-of-15 (.533) shooting from the field and 11-of-11 (1.000) shooting from the free throw line. He also notched nine rebounds in the winning effort at Tucson. In the victory at Arizona State two days later, Borchardt scored 19 points while shooting 6-of-9 (.667) from the field and 7-of-9 (.778) from the free throw line. Additionally, he posted 17 rebounds in that contest.
For the week, Borchardt shot 14-of-24 (.583) from the field, 1-of-2 (.500) from three-point range and 18-of-20 (.900) from the free throw line.
It is the first weekly award for Borchardt, the 30th all-time honor for the Cardinal.
