STANFORD, Calif. - As Ann Landers once stated, ¡§No one ever drowned in his own sweat.¡¨ This week, SWG worked diligently with a mentality similar to this statement. We started our first official practice of the quarter early Monday morning at weight training, followed by classes and another workout in the afternoon. Though this week was mostly designed to allow us to regain our timing on the events, it was a difficult conditioning week. This means that our intensity and repetitions for exercises in our strength and conditioning program increased significantly. However, we rose up to the challenge and pushed each other, setting the precedent for our work ethic for the rest of the year. It was very clear through the effort exerted, that this team works extremely hard and will continue to demonstrate this trend throughout pre-season and season.
As Shelley Jo mentioned earlier, we had an amazing time on our retreat in Yosemite. Our excitement from the weekend carried over into the first week of classes as we started to get back into the swing of things. The most exciting part of our week however, was being able to see the girls perform the skills they¡¦d been working on over the summer, watching new floor routines that are AMAZING, and seeing the improvements everyone had made regarding execution and detail in all of their skills. One of our goals this summer was to transform some of our weaknesses into our strengths, and it was clear that everyone took that to heart and made a commendable effort to achieve that goal. Skills were cleaner, more dynamic, more artistic, and more exciting to watch. : )
It¡¦s been wonderful training alongside and supporting Peaches and Kristina as they prepare for World Championships in October. They look absolutely incredible, hitting routine after routine each day they come into the gym. Best of luck to them!
Besides becoming accustomed to our new schedules of class, gym, and the excitement of the year, we¡¦ve just been having a great time hanging out together (watching Stanford football kick some major booty this weekend fº ). No big deal. Anyway, check in next week for another update!
