SOMERS, Wisc.-- Stanford senior Eugene Godsoe was named the national collegeswimming.com's swimmer of the week for the second time this season following his triple-distance trifecta at Cal last week.
Godsoe, a senior from Greensboro, N.C., posted the nation's fourth-fastest 100 backstroke (48.26) and 200 backstroke (1:47.00) times in the country, sweeping the 50, 100 and 200 backstroke events in Berkeley.
Godsoe, the reigning Pac-10 Champion in the 100 and 200 backstrokes, is a 10-time All-American.
Collegeswimming.com also released its first national poll of the season and both men's and women's programs are rated No. 2 nationally in the coaches association dual meet poll. The Stanford men with 527 points and three first place votes are second to Texas (546 points, 12 first place votes), while the Stanford women, with 439 points and two first place votes are second to Georgia's 458 points and 12 first place nods.
