Budapest, Hungary-- Stanford alum Markus Rogan won two silver medals at the European Championships ending on Sunday, finishing second in both 200 individual medley and the 200 backstroke.
The Austrian native reached the finals of the 200-meter backstroke with a seventh place semifinal finish, before placing second in the finals with a time of 1:57.31.
Rogan also placed amongst the top eight competitors in the 200 IM, placing second in both the semifinals and finals (1:58.03). Hungary's Laszlo Cseh led the field with a course record 1:57.73.
Rogan also reached the finals of the 100 backstroke, with the eighth-best semifinal time, but did not compete in the finals.
Earlier this month, four Stanford swimmers competed in the Canadian Championships, with Paul Kornfeld, Matthew Swanston and Tobias Oriwol earning a spot on the Canadian Team set to compete at this week's Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine. Fellow Stanford swimmer and American Chad La Tourette will join the trio at the championships.
Stanford will also have brothers, Jason and David Dunford competing at the African National Championships starting September 13.
