Season Update ...
The Cardinal tallied a 0-0 tie against No. 3 UCLA in two overtime periods last weekend and ended the home stretch by defeating USC 2-0. Stanford has tallied 17 goals and averaged 1.08 goals per game this season. The Cardinal has outshot its opponents 216-120 and have attempted 14.4 shots per game. Senior co-captain Allyson Marquand continues to lead the squad with 45 shots and six goals. Junior Natalie Sanderson has notched three goals and 31 shot attempts. All-American goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart has recorded six shutouts this season and currently boasts a 0.77 goals against average.

Goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart Named Pac-10 Player of the Week ...
All-American goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart was named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 14-20 after posting back-to-back shutouts against No. 3 UCLA and USC. Barnhart, a redshirt junior from Gilbertsville, Pa., led the Cardinal to a 2-0 victory over the Trojans and a scoreless tie in two overtime periods againsts the Bruins. The two shutouts stand as Barnhart's fifth and sixth this season. Against UCLA on Oct. 17, Barnhart recorded seven saves off 24 shots in Stanford's 120 minutes of play. In the 2-0 win over USC on Oct. 19, she recorded four saves, which pushed her career mark to 112 saves. This season, Barnhart has tallied a 7-6-2 record at goal while recording 47 saves in over 1,408 minutes of play. Barnhart currently ranks No. 1 in the Stanford record books with a 0.77 career goals against average and No. 3 all-time with 28 career shutouts. This is Barnhart's second Pac-10 Player of the Week honor during her tenure at Stanford.

Scouting Oregon ...
The Ducks boast a 7-7 overall and 1-2 Pac-10 Conference record this season, while notching a 4-1 record at home. Last weekend, Oregon suffered defeats to Washington State 2-0 and No. 12 Washington State 2-0. The Ducks have tallied 19 goals and have averaged 1.58 goals per game this season. Sophomore Nicole Garbin leads the Ducks with 53 shots and five goals. The Oregon squad has notched 203 shots and averaged 14.5 shots per game.

Cardinal-Duck Series ...
Stanford leads the all-time Cardinal-Duck series 6-0. In their last meeting, the Cardinal shutout the Ducks 3-0 at Maloney Field on Oct. 20, 2002. Stanford scorers included Marcia Wallis, Leah Tapscott and Amy Grady.

Scouting Oregon State ...
The Beavers tallied a 1-0-1 record last weekend with a win at No. 13 Washington (2-0) and a 1-1 draw at Washington State in two overtime periods. Sophomore Tessa Baker leads Oregon State with 36 shots (18 SOG) and eight goals. Sophomore Brianna Monka has 28 attempts and sophomore Stacey Mescher has 22 shots. The Beavers have been outshot by their opponents 236-168, while averaging 12.0 shots per game. Freshman goalkeeper Melissa Onstad has notched four shutouts this season.

Cardinal-Beaver Series ...
Stanford leads the all-time Cardinal-Beaver series 10-0. The Cardinal downed Oregon State 2-0 in their last meeting on Oct. 18, 2002, at Maloney Field. Stanford scorers included Marcia Wallis and Callie Withers.

Captain, Oh Captain ...
Leading the Stanford squad as the 2003 Cardinal captains are Nicole Barnhart, Allyson Marquand and Natalie Spilger.

Movin' On Up ...
All-American goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart stands at No. 3 in the Cardinal record books after notching her 27th and 28th career shutouts against No. 3 UCLA and USC. Last season, Barnhart set single-season Cardinal records in minutes played (2,047), total shutouts (18), goals allowed (4) and goals against average (0.189).
