STANFORD, Calif.- The Stanford men’s gymnastics team will compete in its 15th consecutive NCAA Championships and pursue its sixth national title on April 19-21, as it heads to State College, Pa.

Stanford earned the fourth seed in a field of 12 teams and will compete in the second session of the semifinal round on Friday, April 19, at 4 p.m. (PT). The Cardinal will be joined by top-seeded Penn State, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 8 Iowa, No. 9 California and No. 12 Temple. The first semifinal will take place at 10 a.m. on April 19, and consists of No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 3 Michigan, No. 6 Minnesota, No. 7 Illinois, No. 10 Nebraska and No. 12 Temple.

The top three teams from each semifinal will advance to the NCAA Finals on Saturday, April 20 at 4 p.m. The gymnasts with the top 10 scores in each event during the semifinal round will qualify to the individual event finals on April 21 at 11 a.m.

This will be Stanford’s 30th appearance overall at the NCAA Championships.

Stanford MPSF Tournament Recap
Stanford claimed three individual conference titles and finished second at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament on April 6.

Stanford tallied a 425.950 team score to finish behind No. 2 Oklahoma (435.350). The Cardinal finished ahead of No. 9 California (419.550) and Air Force Academy (416.400).

Eddie Penev claimed conference titles in the all-around and floor, while Cameron Foreman earned co-champion honors on parallel bars.

Stanford Top 10 in All Events: The Cardinal has competed with a balanced team performance and is ranked in the top 10 in all six events. Below are the rankings determined by the National Qualifying Average:

High bar: 3rd, 71.637

Cardinal in the Top 20: Stanford currently boasts five gymnasts in the top 20 among the six events, based on the National Qualifying Average. Eddie Penev is ranked first on floor and second in the all-around.

Kevin Baker
2013 Season: Competed in all eight meets on vault, seven on rings and made two lineups on floor and parallel bars … recorded season-best on rings (14.600) and vault (14.800) against California (Feb. 23) … placed first on vault in the Feb. 23 meet against Cal … finished tied for 10th on vault at the MPSF Championships with a 14.650 (April 6).
