STANFORD, Calif.-- The Stanford Aquatics Center, in association with Homecoming on October 24, will host four alumni matches throughout the day, beginning with the men's and women's swim teams at 9 a.m., the women's water polo alumnae at 10 a.m. and the men's alumni at 4 p.m. The Cardinal football team hosts Arizona State at 7:15 p.m.
The annual swim meet, which will also count towards NCAA participation later in the spring, is an annual tradition that celebrates the legacy, as well as the future of the Stanford swim programs. The warmup for the meet will begin at 8:30 a.m. Following the meet all participants will be treated to a post-meet meal.
The men's program has won eight NCAA titles and finished either as a runner-up or in third place another 21 at the NCAA Championships. Under 30-year head coach Skip Kenney, the men have won a record 28 consecutive Pacific-10 Championships, finishing third nationally this past season. The Cardinal have featured a swimmer at every Olympics since 1960, winning 33 medals overall since the 1920 games in Antwerp.
The women's program has won a combined nine national titles since 1974-75, finishing in the top-10 at the national tournament in every year since then. The Cardinal have featured an Olympian at 13 Olympiads, winning a combined 53 medals. The team, under former All-American and head coach Lea Maurer, now in her fifth year, finished fourth at the NCAA Championships this past year.
