On Thursday, players celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday with first and second graders at Nixon Elementary on the Stanford campus. "Guest Readers" included Brent Newhouse, Josiah Vinson, Carlos McFall, Fred Campbell and Bobby Dockter.

Originally created as a one-day event to celebrate the joy of reading on March 2, Dr. Seuss's birthday, Read Across America has grown into a nationwide initiative that promotes reading every day of the year. Throughout the course of the year, Stanford Football players will appear several times at local elementary schools in the community as well as at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula.

On Saturday, Stanford Football players appeared at the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce Health Expo held at the Cubberley Community Center. The theme of the day-long event was the "The Business of Healthy Families". Players provided insight to the attendees on such topics as healthy eating and the training and conditioning habits of college athletes. Guest appearances at the Expo included Palo Alto Mayor Judy Kleinberg and State Assemblymember Ira Ruskin.
