The Stanford Lightweight Women's Rowing team won the Varsity, Second Varsity, and Novice Eight races against Humboldt State today at Redwood Shores. Completing a week of spring break training in windy, rainy weather, the Cardinal rowed relaxed, clean, and confident in the sunny, flat conditions present.
The Varsity Eight began the sweep with an aggressive start, lengthening out to a solid rhythm that would have them win their 2,000 meter race by a margin of 15 seconds. In the closest race of the day, the Second Varsity Eight battled for position down the racecourse and finished triumphant by a mere two seconds. In an exciting, come-from-behind victory, the Cardinal Novice Eight powered through two Humboldt State Novice crews to finish four seconds ahead for the win.
The Cardinal's next race is the San Diego Crew Classic on April 2nd and 3rd.
