Moraga, Calif. - 16th-ranked Stanford improved to 3-0 in MPLL action today with a 15-8 win over St. Mary's, who dropped to 0-4 in league play. The Cardinal (8-2 overall) was led by senior Kim Cahill and sophomore Kelsey Twist, who each netted three goals and tabbed one assist in the win. The Gaels (4-8 overall) were led by junior Colette Spencer, who notched her eighth hat-trick of the season today.

The Cardinal took the early 4-0 lead after Cahill and Twist contributed three of the first four goals to open the game. The Gaels managed cut their deficit to two goals, but the Cardinal closed out the first half with three unanswered goals to carry an 8-3 lead into the break.

Sarah Bach and Nina Pantano started the second half by each tallying a free position goal before St. Mary's scored back-to-back goals to stay within five with just over 18 minutes left in the match. Stanford held the lead and outscored the Gaels 5-3 in the remainder of the contest to secure the 15-8 win.

Stanford will be on the road this weekend as the Cardinal travels to Evanston, Illinois for a match against No. 20 Northwestern on Friday, April 11th. Stanford will then take on No. 15 Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana on Sunday, April 13th.
