Day 2 Quotes
NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships- Evening Session
April 24, 2008
Athens, GA.

Stanford Head Coach Kristen Smyth
Opening Statement:
"I'm proud of our effort tonight. We fought hard and with everything we had. Our signature is our bars but tonight it was a total team effort. We covered each other, stayed tough, and when we missed on bars, we were there to back each other up. Our end on the balance beam was impressive and we've been doing it all year. I feel really good about the night."

Stanford Senior Tabitha Yim
On the team's mindset:
"We had a tough freshman year, but we've learned and grown with hard work and passion. Our goal was to hit 24 of 24 and make it to the Super Six like last year and we did that, but from here there is nowhere to go but up. We have energy and passion and we're going to compete with enthusiasm and drive."

Georgia Head Coach Suzanne Yoculan

"Tomorrow is the night. Utah beat us at the beginning of the season, they have improved a ton and there are a lot of other tough teams here. I'm not guaranteeing anything for tomorrow. We gave 100 percent tonight and I hope we can get the adrenalin back up. We had a peak performance with the exception of three mistakes. We can't do a whole lot more."

Georgia Senior Katie Heenan

"The team did a tremendous job. We came in with a mission tonight. I think we set the bar and got confidence for tomorrow. We made some mistakes tonight, but making them tonight might be kind of a good thing because we know we have something to improve on. I am excited and really pumped up now."

Utah Head Coach Greg Marsden

"We felt great tonight and I think we came out with a whole lot of energy. We had a strong start on the bars and beam. The floor got a little scary but we battled through it. Now we have to relax and do the little things for tomorrow night."

Utah Junior Kristina Baskett

"We knew we would hopefully be competing two, or even three, nights in a row. We have been preparing for that in practice for a while. This was a big high for us tonight and hopefully we will do even better tomorrow."

NCAA All-Around Champion, UCLA Senior Tasha Schwikert

"Honestly, I am shocked I won. Our sports information director came back into our locker room and was looking at me and I said, "What?" and she said, "You won." All I could think was no way. I've been through a lot of pain this year with my Achilles but tonight I came into the meet with a team focus about getting my team to the next round. I definitely wasn't ready for them to announce that I had won the individual championship. This one is bittersweet to win on my last meet, but I would exchange that for my team to get to the next round in a heartbeat.
