The Stanford Lightweight Women's Crew team concluded another strong season with a weekend of close racing at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships in Cherry Hill, NJ. The Cardinal Varsity eight started off the regatta with a second place finish in the heats. In the repechage, Stanford came in third to Georgetown and the University of Rohde Island, narrowly missing entry into the grand finals. And in the final race of the weekend, Stanford closed a gap of a boatlength down on Purdue to only three seats with a move that started with 750 meters to go and extended to the finish line. Third year rower Kristina Peterson commented, "racing at the IRA's was Stanford Lightweight Crew in our peak performance. Although we lost a couple of close races, our ability to make moves and gain on other crews well into the second half of the race proved our determination and our endurance. We're getting faster, and we aren't losing any seniors, so I'm looking forward to how speedy we're going to be next year."
