STANFORD, Calif. - Arizona is just blissful in the winter. No rain, no clouds; only sunshine, tanning, and wonderful shopping. And you know what that means...mmhmm, Arizona could quite possibly equate to none other than a girl's best friend in the winter season. It's no wonder then, that SWG embraced this past weekend with open arms and dominated at Arizona State University. We were simply spending quality time with our besties and wanted to have a good time. Per usual of course. : )
After a short week following our competition at UCLA, we headed to Tempe for a dual meet against the Sun Devils. Fortunately, we have an uncanny ability to create a positive zone of energy for our team despite lack of excitement from low numbers of spectators in an arena. Harnessing this skill, we began the meet with a pretty strong bar rotation. Shell led off the team with a solid routine, having added her full-in dismount. Despite a fall, Brownie, CJ, and A-mo picked up the rotation with gorgeous sets and scored huge for the team. JP returned strong and confident from her injury and exhibitioned an exquisite routine after having to sit out the first few weeks.
We moved on to the next rotation, executing six very dynamic and solid vaults. Daytona closed out this event with an almost stuck landing as an exhibition, once again proving her enviable consistency and power. Floor was next, with T-dub starting off with the highest tumbling imaginable. A-mo showed off her amazing precision and intense dance moves very well while Peaches performed beautifully as usual. CJ hit a magnificent floor set, embodying her mysterious character throughout the routine like a professional. Despite two falls, SWG was resilient and proved its mental toughness on the beam rotation.
Brownie commenced with a near perfect routine, setting up the rest of the beam team for big hits. Dan Dan performed with her usual dynamic character, followed by Peaches' fabulous poise, CJ's insane consistency, and Shell's perfect triple series. A-mo finished with a beautiful routine to close out the competition. Thus, it was a great weekend with a huge away score for us. The great thing about this is the fact that there are still many more areas in which we can improve. We've made huge performance strides since the beginning of season, but have so many more to take.
Now, we're diligently preparing for our last home meet of the season, SENIOR NIGHT! Wooo! We will be sending off our class of OHHHH TEN seniors, followed by probable intense crying sessions, and then recognition that the past four years have been the best of our lives. Shout out to my girls ;)
Thanks again for all the support thus far. We really appreciate it! Check in next week for another SWG update.
