Stanford, CA - Stanford Lacrosse dropped the final game of their four-game homestand, 10-5 to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, today at Stanford Stadium. The Irish took the lead early in the game with a goal at 1:54 in the first half and they never let the Cardinal get closer than one goal down. Stanford freshman Ali Salatti put the Cardinal on the board with a goal at 10:34 and sophomore Abbi Hills added another goal off a free-position at 14:31 to lead to a halftime score of 5-2.
The Cardinal started the second half on the right foot with a goal at 33:01 into the game by sophomore Jess Scott, but the Irish came back and scored five unanswered goals over the next 20 minutes. With the score at 10-3, Scott took the initiative again and scored off a free-position at 54:00. She was followed by another free-position goal, by senior tri-captain Liz Britt, at 55:56, both teams were held scoreless for the final four minutes.
This loss puts Stanford at 3-3 overall, they are still 3-0 in the MPLL after winning their 14th consecutive league victory on Tuesday. The Cardinal defeated the Gaels of St. Mary's 15-7 for their first win at home this season. After a short break for finals, Stanford will travel East for Spring Break for a three-game road trip. They face Boston University at Loyola at 11am (PT) on March 24th, then they travel to Vanderbilt to take on Brown at 1pm (PT) on March 26th and Vanderbilt at 3pm(PT) on March 28th.
