Stanford, CA - January 18, 2008 - The online home of Stanford Athletics, gostanford.com, has received a facelift. The redesigned web site, which will launch on Wednesday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m. PT, will provide Cardinal fans an improved and enhanced user experience. Visitors of gostanford.com will notice a significant change in the user interface in which a cleaner more contemporary look and feel has been applied throughout the site.
Since it first launched in May 1997, gostanford.com has undergone two redesigns, but the site primarily served as an informational posting board and media relations resource. In an effort to communicate to a broader audience, the gostanford.com site required a major overhaul.
The site was redesigned with the following objectives in mind:
Maximize the limited real estate capacity by restructuring the site navigation and creating a simpler, more attractive graphical layout that cohesively integrates news, multimedia, advertising, and event information.
Provide timely and accurate data on Stanford Athletics and its sports programs.
Enhance the user experience by incorporating more Flash, audio, video, and other multimedia tools.
Key features of the redesign include:
Easier overall site navigation and presentation.
The latest technology in web graphics and displays.
Improved access to multimedia and fan resources.
Larger action photos to accompany headline stories.
More organized sponsor advertisement placement.
In addition to the new features, fans can still access team rosters, schedules, game results, online ticketing, press releases, and much more on gostanford.com.
"We live in a culture where information is accessible 24-7," said Chris Hutchins, Senior Associate Athletic Director of External Relations. "The web site serves as an important conduit in communicating with our constituencies. We will continuously aspire to improve our online communication and provide fans intimate access to our sports programs, events, student-athletes, and coaching staff."
