STANFORD, Calif. - The new Stanford women's lacrosse coaching staff is seeking to connect with former players and is offering an open invitation to participate in alumni game festivities on Oct. 12.
Cardinal lacrosse alumnae will play the 2009 team at 10:30 a.m., at the Lacrosse practice fields, followed by a tailgate.
New coach Brooke McKenzie and Jaime Sellers are eager to meet former players, create a Stanford lacrosse network, and discover more of the program's rich history.
Please RSVP Sellers (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like to take part.
The alumni game will be part of a fall schedule that consists of five events, before the season begins in earnest in February.
The new staff will get their first Stanford game action in unusual circumstances, at Boston's Beanpot Tournament Oct. 4-5. The six-team event includes Team Canada, which boasts McKenzie as a player and Bokker as an assistant coach.
When Stanford isn't playing, Bokker will coach the Canadians. So, when Stanford plays Canada, Bokker will coach the Cardinal against her own assistant coach, who will be playing for the opponent.
Stange, but true.
