STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford's 1970 football team that won the Pac-8 championship and upset second-ranked Ohio State in the Rose Bowl will be honored at halftime of Saturday's game against Arizona.

Former players expected to be in attendance include Heisman Trophy-winner Jim Plunkett, Jeff Siemon, Pete Lazetich, Phil Satre, John Sande III, Jackie Brown, Hillary Shockley and Dave Tipton.

John Ralston, who coached Stanford to back-to-back Rose Bowl victories, will also be on hand, along with former assistant coaches Mike White and Roger Theder.

Stanford's famed sports information duo of Bob Murphy and Gary Cavalli, who headed up Plunkett's Heisman Trophy campaign, will also be honored.

The 1970 team finished with a 9-3 overall record and was ranked eighth in the final Top 20 poll released by the Associated Press after Stanford upset the heavily-favored Ohio State Buckeyes, 27-17 in the Rose Bowl.

Plunkett became Stanford's first and only winner of the Heisman Trophy as the nation's top player after throwing for 2,715 yards and 18 touchdowns. He completed 20-of-30 passes for 265 yards in the Rose Bowl win over the Buckeyes.

Sande, Tipton, Siemon, Lazetich, Shockley, Brown along with Randy Vataha, Steve Jubb, Larry Butler, Dan Lightfoot, Steve Horowitz and Bob Moore all received various All-America, All-Pacific 8 and All-Pacific Coast recognition.
