STANFORD, Calif. - Members of the Stanford football team spent Wednesday afternoon volunteering their time at the Opportunity Center in Palo Alto and the Haven Family House in Menlo Park, where players assisted in the donation of shoes, gear, clothes, sweats, hats and jackets to at-need families and children.
Stanford football receives a generous amount of gear and clothing each season and the entire team came together and donated what they had for a good cause.
Stanford players Usua Amanam, Adam Brzeczek, Conor McFadden, Keanu Nelson, Chris Owusu, Jordan Pratt, Jordan Richards, Terrence Stephens, Michael Thomas, Kelsey Young also spent time signing autographs and distributing t-shirts.
The Opportunity Center provides services and resources for more than 200 homeless individuals and families in the mid-Peninsula area, of which more than 50 are women with children.
Haven Family House is a refuge for families who suddenly find themselves homeless in an area with one of the highest costs of living in the country. Operated by Shelter Network, Haven Family House not only provides fully furnished apartments for up to four months, but is also one of the few facilities in the country to offer on-site licensed child care.
