SEATTLE - Stanford will unveil a not-so-secret weapon in its quest to repeat as Mountain Pacific Sports Federation indoor women's track and field champion this weekend.

Racing for the first time this season is senior Kathy Kroeger, a seven-time All-America and 2012 Olympic trials finalist in the 5,000 meters. Kroeger, the reigning Pac-12 cross country champion, is scheduled to race in the 5,000 on Friday and the 3,000 on Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor track.

Her appearance will no doubt boost the hopes of a team seeking its seventh MPSF indoor title. Stanford is ranked No. 16 in the country, behind three other MPSF schools, but has scoring potential across the board.

Among the Cardinal standouts are returning indoor All-Americans Kroeger, Karynn Dunn (long jump), and the distance medley relay team. However, the list doesn't include three other contenders: defending MPSF 60-meter hurdles champion Kori Carter, freshman Amy Weissenbach, who has the nation's No. 9 800 time, or sophomore Jessica Tonn, who carries the nation's No. 10 time in the 5,000.

The Stanford men are two years removed from their only MPSF indoor title and come into the meet unranked. But the Cardinal has big scoring potential from its nationally No. 3-ranked DMR, 2012 high jump runner-up Jules Sharpe, and the team's conglomeration of milers led by the Armory Collegiate Invitational 1-2 tandem of Michael Atchoo and Tyler Stutzman.
