Twenty-four hours later, Stanford men's distance medley relay team did likewise. The Cardinal men's team of Seth Hejny, Nick Sebes, Ryan Hall and Grant Robison ran a combined time of 9:43.73 to score a victory on Saturday at the Drake Relays over runnerup Baylor (9:46.44).
The Stanford women continued their remarkable run of victories with a first place finish in the 4 x 800 meter relay. The team of Lindsay Hyatt, Katie Hotchkiss, Lauren Fleshman and Malindi Elmore was timed in 8:36.70, the best time in the world this year. Rice was second at 8:42.32.
Hotchkiss ran on all three winning Cardinal relay teams (4 x 1 mile, distance medley relay, 4 x 800 meters).
"Three for three," Hotchkiss told the Des Moines Register. "I have a lot of family in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, and they were here to cheer me on."
The Cardinal also picked up a victory in the women's 1,500 meters when Sara Bei was timed in a NCAA West Qualifying time of 4:20.88.
