Synchro Tops Arizona, 98-43.5

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team defeated visiting Arizona, 98-43.5, Saturday, in the team's final home event of the 2011 season at the Avery Aquatic Center.

The Cardinal placed first in all four events to sweep the Wildcats. Junior Maria Koroleva won the A Elements with a score of 77.542, while senior Koko Urata finished second and junior Olivia Morgan took third. Freshman Leigh Haldeman won the B figures with a score of 70.83, while sophomore Danielle Rossoni placed second.

Junior Alex Bollaidlaw, Koroleva and sophomore Jessica Guenther won trio with a score of 91.000. Stanford's other trio team of Urata, senior Corinne Smith and sophomore Wendy Lu finished second with a 90.833.

Koroleva and Morgan captured the duet win with a score of 93.333. Senior Gayle Lee took home the solo win with a 90.667. Stanford also won the team competition with a 93.333.

Up next, Stanford travels to San Antonio, Texas for the IUW Invitational, Feb. 18-19.
