Stanford Runners Earn All-Academic Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Three Stanford runners were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic first team for cross country, the conference announced Thursday.

Seniors Benjamin Johnson and Miles Unterreiner from the men's team, and Kathy Kroeger from the women's received the first-team honors for the Cardinal. In addition, Tyler Stutzman and Tyler Valdes were named to the men's second team.

Men's honorable mention selections included Stanford's Michael Atchoo, Kenny Krotzer, Tim Luthin, and Jim Rosa.

Women;s honorable mention selections included the Cardinal's Mary Kate Anselmini, Alli Billmeyer, Jaye Buchbinder, Aisling Cuffe, Jessica Tonn, and Hannah Varnell.

Johnson carries a 3.65 grade-point average as a chemical engineering major. Unterreiner, who will receive his master's in December and is a Rhodes Scholar finalist, had a 4.04 undergraduate GPA in history.

Kroeger, the Pac-12 individual champion, has a 3.92 GPA as a senior majoring in math and computational science.
