Corvallis, Or - Two years ago, the Stanford women's gymnastics team captured the Pacific-10 title. In 2006, the Cardinal is one of the favorites when the conference members in gymnastics compete at the Pac-10 Championship on Saturday (March 25) at Oregon State.

The meet gets underway at 6 p.m. at Gill Coliseum.

Stanford, 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the Pac-10, is tenth in this week's national poll with a Team RSQ score of 196.085. That mark is second-best in the Pac-10 behind ninth-ranked Arizona State (196.120). Defending NCAA champion Georgia is #1 in the nation (197.255).

Stanford will host the NCAA West Regional which is slated for April 8 at Maples Pavilion (6:00 p.m.).

Coaches Corner
Head coach Kristen Smyth is in her fifth season at Stanford ... Smyth has chalked up a record of 80-31 during that span ... Smith has coached Stanford to three NCAA appearances (2002, 2003, 2004) and an appearance in the NCAA Super Six twice (2002, 2004) ... Stanford has won the Pac-10 championship twice (2002, 2004) during her tenure, and coached the Cardinal to the NCAA Regional title in 2002 and 2004 ... In her four previous seasons at Stanford, Smyth has coached six Stanford gymnasts to 31 All-American honors.

Team Tally
Stanford is continuing to build momentum as it prepares for the Pac-10 Championship (3/25/06 at Oregon State), the NCAA West Regional (4/8/06 at Stanford), and a possible berth at the NCAA Championship (April 20-22 at Oregon State) ... In three of the six meets, Stanford's team total has been more than 196.000 points ... The Cardinal scored 196.325 points in a win at Arizona State (2/10/06) followed by a team total of 196.875 (season-best) in a victory over Arizona (2/17/06) ... On February 24, the Cardinal tallied 196.375 points in a victory over Washington.

Has emerged as one of Stanford's top gymnasts this year ... Ninth in the Pac-10 on Bars (9.835) ... Has competed in the All-Around in two of the six meets this year, with a season-best mark of 38.725 at the Cancun Classic (1/6/06).

Natalie Foley, Senior, Englewood, Co
Has competed in the All-Around in all eight of the nine meets this year with a season-best total of 39.325 against Washington (2/24/06) ... Ranked sixth in the Pac-10 in the All-Around (39.125, 24th nationally) and sixth on Beam (9.835, 21st nationally) ... Produced four season-best marks (Vault, Bars, Beam, All-Around) against Washington (2/24/06).

Made her season debut on Vault against Washington (2/24/06).

The 2004 Canadian Olympian made her collegiate debut in the All-Around in Stanford's victory at UCLA (3/5/06) with a score of 38.425.

The 2006 Season in Review

at Cancun Classic (1/6/06)
The Cardinal opened the 2006 season on Jan. 6 with an impressive effort at the Cancun Classic in Mexico ... Stanford tallied a team score of 194.950, just behind the winning effort of top-ranked and defending NCAA champion Georgia ... Victories by Glyn Sweets in the Vault (9.925), Liz Tricase on Bars (9.875) and Natalie Foley on Beam (9.775) helped the Cardinal in the five team meet ... Denver finished third with 193.850 points followed by Oklahoma with 193.325, and Arizona with 192.925 ... Three Cardinal athletes competed in the All-Around ... Senior Natalie Foley, an eight-time All-American, finished third (39.025) while freshmen Nicole Ourada placed fifth (39.025) and Kelly Fee placed sixth (38.725).

Sacramento State, San Jose State, UC Davis (1/15/06)
In its home opener, Stanford looked impressive in a four-way meet with Sacramento State, UC Davis and San Jose State ... The Cardinal chalked up 194.350 points to easily outdistance runnerup Sacramento State (191.525), San Jose State (190.575) and UC Davis (186.875) ... The Cardinal captured first, second and third place in each of the four events (Bars, Beam, Floor Exercise, Vault) in addition to placing 1-2-3 in the All-Around ... Tabitha Yim, competing in only her third collegiate All-Around, tallied a 39.600 to finish first ... Yim gained first place honors in the All-Around thanks to victories on Floor Exercise (9.925, tied her career-best), Vault (9.900, career-best), and Beam (9.875).

at Oregon State (1/27/06)
Despite an upset loss to Oregon State (195.150 - 194.125), several Cardinal athletes performed with high marks ... Liz Tricase won the Bars competition with a score of 9.850 ... Sophomore Tabitha Yim competed in three events (Vault, Beam, Floor) and collected wins on Floor (9.850) and Vault (9.900).

at California (2/3/06)
Stanford recorded a convincing 195.925 - 192.150 victory at California ... The Cardinal dominated the meet in every meet ... The Cardinal recorded first place wins in the All-Around (Tabitha Yim, 39.300), Vault (Liz Tricase, 9.950), Bars (Liz Tricase, 9.925), Beam (Tabitha Yim, 9.875) and Floor Exercise (Nicole Ourada, 9.900) ... Stanford went 1-2-3 in the Vault and Floor Exercise.

at Arizona State (2/10/06)
Stanford looked sharp and the result was a 196.325-195.725 victory over tenth-ranked Arizona State ... A 1-2-3 finish on Bars by Liz Tricase (9.900), Tabitha Yim (9.875) and Glyn Sweets (9.875) helped in the win ... Arizona State had been ranked #1 nationally on Beam, but that didn't deter Stanford from posting a 48.800 - 48.550 victory ... The Cardinal's upset victory on Beam was aided by 3-4-5 finishes by Yim (9.850), Heather Purnell (9.825) and Natalie Foley (9.825).

Arizona (2/17/06)
Stanford, fueled by several impressive career-best efforts including a perfect 10.000 by Liz Tricase on Bars, stormed to a convincing 196.875 - 194.625 victory over 14th-ranked Arizona ... Tricase tied the school record with a perfct 10.000 not only on her first effort but her second effort as well ... Her point total gave the Cardinal a team total of 49.425, their best effort of the 2006 season ... Individually, eight career-best marks were set ... That included a 39.625 in the All-Around, a 9.950 on Bars, and a 9.950 on Beam by Tabitha Yim.

Washington (2/24/06)
Stanford swept all three places in the four events (Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor Exercise) in Stanford's 196.375 - 189.600 victory over the visiting Washington Huskies ... Natalie Foley won the All-Around with a season-best mark of 39.325 ... Foley won on Beam (9.900), and finished second on Bars (9.875) ... Several of Stanford's gymnasts set career marks against the Huskies ... The listed included Kelly Fee on Bars (9.850), Beam (9.850) and Floor Exercise (9.825), Nicole Ourada in the All-Around (39.300), Bars (9.850) and Beam (9.850), Alex Pintchouk on Floor Exercise (9.875) and Vault (9.925), and Tabitha Yim on Vault (9.925).

at Cal State Fullerton (3/3/06)
Stanford swept three (Vault, Bars, Beam) in posting a 194.675 - 191.175 non-league victory at Cal State Fullerton ... Liz Tricase scored a perfect 10.000 on Bars ... Tricase also tallied a 9.950 (career-best) to win the Vault competition ... Natalie Foley won the All-Around (39.175) and Beam (9.875), and finished second on Floor Exercise (9.675) and third on Vault (9.900) and Bars (9.825).

at UCLA (3/5/06)
No. 12 Stanford posted a dramatic 195.950 - 195.150 victory at No. 8 UCLA ... San Jose State also competed and tallied a score of 193.225 ... Once again, the star for Stanford was sophomore Liz Tricase, who posted a perfect 10.000 on Bars for the third straight meet ... Tricase also placed second on Vault (9.900) ... Stanford scored on an important victory on Beam ... The Cardinal was ranked eleventh in the nation while UCLA was ranked seventh ... However, Stanford scored the upset with a team score of 48.600 while UCLA was awarded 47.525 points.

at Alabama (3/10/06)
The dual meet between third-ranked Alabama and eighth-ranked Stanford came down to the last rotation and the last competitor ... Stanford and Alabama were deadlocked going down the line through the last rotation, but the Crimson Tide used a 49.325 on Floor Exericse to overtake the Cardinal which scored a 48.850 on Beam ... Alabama beat Stanford in Tuscaloosa, 196.250 - 195.580 ... Stanford won the Bars competition led by a first place finish by Liz Tricase at 9.875 ... Tabitha Yim finished second (9.850).
