Dear Stanford fans,
We've heard from lots of DirecTV customers who are concerned about being able to watch our football team take the field for the season opener against San Jose State tomorrow night. The staff at Pac-12 Networks has been working day and night to make sure that doesn't happen, but with only a few hours remaining before the game, we have learned that DirecTV does not plan to carry Pac-12 Networks.
Here in the Bay Area, DirecTV said that all fans will be satisfied by the games they can watch through other networks. Based on the numerous calls, emails and tweets we have received asking how to watch Pac-12 Networks, we know this is not true.
The good news is that most fans have options to switch their television service to one of the more than 25 distributors that offer Pac-12 Networks. Here in Northern California, you can find Pac-12 Networks on Comcast, Wave Broadband and Astound, San Bruno Cable and Northland. These providers offer Pac-12 Networks' full season lineup, including dozens of live Stanford events featuring our student-athletes, with TV Everywhere capabilities, enabling you to watch your Stanford Cardinal online, on the iPad and on Android and iOS devices later this season.
To ensure you don't miss out on hundreds of live Pac-12 events, including our first two home football games and 33 other Pac-12 football contests, we encourage you to switch to a Pac-12 Networks provider today.
Thank you for your support and go Cardinal!
The Jaquish & Kenninger Director of Athletics
