STANFORD, Calif. - Four-time defending conference champion Stanford unofficially opens its women's lacrosse season Saturday, Jan. 17, with an alumnae game and is seeking former players to take part.
The game, which takes place at 1 p.m. at the Maloney practice field, will be the centerpiece of activities that begin Friday night, with a social at assistant coach Brooke McKenzie's house (7-9 p.m.).
After Saturday's game, there will be a Happy Hour at Maples Pavilion beginning at 3:30 p.m., followed by the Stanford-Cal men's basketball game at 5, for those interested.
Stanford enters the season ranked No. 19 by Lacrosse Magazine and returns 21 of 29 letterwinners and six starters from last year's 12-8 team, which captured the school's fourth consecutive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title. The season officially opens Feb. 7 with an MPSF game at Oregon (3 p.m.), followed by Stanford's first home game, against Fresno State on Feb. 12 (7 p.m.) at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
