STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's gymnastics program has announced the signing of two athletes - Natalie Foley (Colorado Springs, Col.) and Jessica Louie (Sacramento, Calif.) - to National Letters-of-Intent beginning with the 2002-03 season.

Foley is an International Elite gymnast from Colorado Springs, Col., and is currently ranked seventh in the country. Foley has emerged on the national scene this year and earned a spot as an alternate on the bronze medal-wining U.S. World Championship Team. Foley's extended swing on bars is among the best in the country and was the 2001 U.S. Classic vault champion.

Louie is a level-10 gymnast from Sacramento, Calif. While competing at 2001 Level-10 Nationals, she placed seventh on the all-around, second on the floor exercise and third on the vault. An explosive vaulter and tumbler, she will add depth to the program.

"I couldn't be more excited about my first recruiting class at Stanford University," said head coach Kristen Smyth. Both Natalie and Jessica are outstanding student-athletes and will have an immediate impact on our program. Jessica is extremely powerful and should help bring our vault and floor exercise team to the next level. Natalie is one of the best gymnasts in the country and will be an exciting all around performer. She is also explosive on vault and floor exercise as well as extremely talented on the uneven bars."
