Stanford, Calif. - Stanford, a twelve-time U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup winner, maintained its lead in the first set of spring standings with 1245.50 points. The Cardinal program has claimed the previous 12 Directors' Cup titles, dating back to 1994-95, and has 106 all-time National Championships. The award is presented annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) to the best overall collegiate athletic program in the country.

In the most recent NCAA championships, the Cardinal finished fifth in women's golf, paced by the top-10 individual finish of senior Lauren Todd. The top-five finish was the highest for the Cardinal since the 2000 season, when the squad finished second. In women's tennis, Stanford reached the NCAA semifinals after posting a 24-2 record. The Stanford women's water polo squad was the NCAA runner-up, reaching the National Championship match for the sixth time in program history.

To date, Stanford has scored in the maximum of 10 women's sports (cross country, soccer, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, swimming, indoor track & field, golf, tennis and water polo). The Cardinal men have scored in seven championships (cross country, basketball, fencing, gymnastics, swimming, indoor track & field and wrestling).

The Stanford track and field and men's golf squads will look to secure Stanford's 13th Directors' Cup title in the coming weeks. Men's golf stands in first place at the NCAA Championships after the first day of competition in Williamsburg, Va. Twenty Cardinal athletes have qualified for the NCAA Track and Field Championships, which will be held June 6-9 in Sacramento.
