Hey Card fans!
Wow! I cannot believe it is my senior year! Where did the time fly? Anyway, I hope a lot of you tuned in last weekend for some exciting softball in Arizona. The team played great together for our first time out and our offense was on fire! The freshmen contributed so much to the lineup and came up with some big hits and big plays. It was exciting to see the bench used as much as they were. There is a lot of depth to this 2012 squad so get ready for an exciting season!
Opening up in my hometown in Arizona couldn't have been a better way to start off my senior season. I was so blessed with how many family and friends came out to support me. I got to see my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, sisters and brother-in-laws and all five of my crazy nieces and nephews! So many family friends came out to support me and the Card too. Even a couple of my former teachers came from kindergarten through high school.
Saturday night, my family hosted an incredible Mexican dinner at our house. As always, my mom went above and beyond with her salsa, guacamole, carnitas, enchiladas and even coconut flan and cupcakes... all from scratch! The team had a great time relaxing at the house, hanging out by the fire outside, and sharing some good stories.
All-in-all, the weekend encompassed just about everything I miss about my hometown -great family, friends, my mom's home-cooked food, Arizona sunrises and sunsets, and the amazing weather we have when it's not 115 degrees in the summer. Moving forward, it's time to open up our season at my new home, STANFORD, this weekend! I hope to see a lot of you Stanford fans out there, wearing Card loud and proud. Check the schedule at www.gostanford.com and I'll see you there!
