Stanford Athletics announces the start of construction for the Avery Video Center, adding approximately 2000 square feet to the existing Avery Aquatic Center.
The new $1.4 million Avery Video Center will provide a much needed meeting facility for all the aquatic sports programs, including men's and women's water polo, men's and women's swimming and diving, and synchronized swimming.
Amenities in the Avery Video Center include seating for approximately 30 people, full audio and visual support equipment, a granite conference table, kitchenette and basic food service equipment. The exterior features contemporary design using a glass and metal wall system and integrates well into the existing building architecture. The video center will divide into two separate rooms so that two varsity teams can break down game films, review underwater video clips, or use the newest technology in frame-by-frame motion photography to analyze the most effective way of changing an athlete's stroke, shot or diving technique.
The project is being funded by the Avery Family, including L. Burt Avery (Class of '45) and his wife Marion P. Avery, Christopher Avery (Class of '73), Brian Avery (Class of '78), Matt Avery (Class of '82), and Regan Avery (Class of '82). Completion of the facility is anticipated early in 2006.
