The Opening Tip
The 97th season of Stanford basketball gets underway on Friday, Nov. 11, when the Cardinal (0-0, 0-0 Pac-12) hosts Central Arkansas (0-0, 0-0 Southland) in the season opener for both teams. Stanford enters the 2011-12 campaign looking to challenge for a spot in the upper half of the revamped Pac-12 conference.

Scouting Central Arkansas
Central Arkansas closed out 2010-11 at 5-24 overall and 1-15 in Southland competition.
The Bears will play at Sacramento State on Sunday afternoon before returning home for three straight home games.
Central Arkansas has been picked to finish fifth in the East Division of both Southland Conference preseason polls.
Five players return from last year, in addition to two redshirts and eight newcomers.
At the helm is head coach Corliss Williamson, entering his second season. Williamson was a two-time All-American at Arkansas and played 12 years in the NBA.
Stanford and Central Arkansas are hooking up for the first time on the hardwood.
Stanford In Season Openers
In its 96-year history, the Cardinal sports a 78-18 record in season openers. Stanford has won 21 of its last 23 lid-lifters, with the only exceptions coming two years ago at San Diego and in 2005 against UC Irvine. Stanford is opening up at home for the second straight season after posting a 64-48 victory over San Diego at Maples Pavilion last year.
