BERKELEY, Calif. - No. 5 Stanford compiled a team score of 343.700 to finish behind No. 1 Oklahoma (351.600) and No. 7 California (349.400) Sunday afternoon at Haas Pavilion. The meet marked the first time the Cardinal (4-3) competed against Oklahoma this year and evened the season series with the Golden Bears at 2-2.
Stanford was in second place after two events, trailing Oklahoma by 4.900 points. Cale Robinson placed fifth on floor exercise with a score of 14.400, the top four spots belonging to the Sooners, led by Jake Dalton (15.600). Jordan Nolff (15.300) captured the still rings title with James Fosco (14.900) finishing tied for fifth.
The Cardinal struggled on pommel horse, falling into third place after three events. Chris Turner led the team with a score of 14.900 in his first competition of the season. Stanford continued it's dominance in vault, maintaining it's No. 1 national ranking with strong showings by Eddie Penev (15.500), Sean Senters (15.100) and Cale Robinson (14.900).
Turner and Penev led the team on parallel bars with scores of 14.200 and Paul Hichwa (14.800) and Penev (14.700) scored well on high bar to complete the competition.
The Cardinal host the first of two consecutive home meets next weekend when California and the Japanese College All-Stars visit on Saturday night. They host Michigan the following week at the Stanford Showdown.
