STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 19/21 Stanford softball team (32-16) plays host to UC Davis (18-25) on Wednesday, Apr. 25. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Smith Family Stadium.
Stanford is looking to snap a four-game losing skid, having dropped four road games last week. Junior second baseman Jenna Rich led the team offensively with two home runs, including a grand slam against No. 4 Arizona State. Her five RBI on the week give her 57 for the year, tying the second-best single season output in program history.
UC Davis is coming off a 2-1 series win at Big West foe Cal Poly last weekend. Senior catcher Rachel Miller led the Aggies in their 4-0 win to open the series. She registered a two-run double and a sacrfice fly in the contest. In the team's 3-0 win on Sunday, pinch hitter Heather Zimmerman hit a two-run homer, while pitcher Justine Vela posted a two-hit shutout in the circle.
The last meeting between the two programs came earlier this season, a 2-1 win for the Aggies in Davis, Calif., on Feb. 15. Rich scored on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh, but the Aggies scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh on a single up the middle by Cassandra Ginnis.
This weekend is Stanford's bye weekend in the Pac-12. The Cardinal will return to the field on Tuesday, May 1 to host Santa Clara before resuming conference play against the Washington Huskies, May 4-6 at Smith Family Stadium. Sunday's contest against the Huskies will be Senior Day, marking the final regular season home game.
