STANFORD, Calif. - Third-ranked Stanford women's rowing will head to the familiar waters of Lake Natoma for Sunday's Pac-10 Championships.

Racing action is set to begin for the women with the Novice Eight at 9:50 a.m. The Fours will get underway at approximately 10:30 a.m., with the II Eights set for a 11:10 a.m. start and the I Eight main event getting off at 11:50 a.m.

While gold medals are up for grabs in each boat class, the Pac-10 team title will also be contested. The seven competing schools will receive points based on their respective boats' finishes in each race. The school with the highest number of points following the four races will win the team title. Should two or more schools end up tied in the point standings following the end of racing, the school with the highest finish in the I Eight race would be awarded the higher finish in the team standings.

Last year, the Cardinal were edged out of the team title by a half-point by California. The title came down to the I Eight race, in which Stanford was edged out of a repeat gold medal by a razor-thin margin of nine-tenths of a second against California.

The II Eight, though, captured its first-ever Pac-10 gold medal by blazing to a 4.1-second victory last year, and will attempt to repeat as conference champions Sunday.

Last year's Novice Eight pulled out a second-place effort while the Four finished fourth in its race.
