STANFORD, Calif. - Three Stanford players - Chase Beeler, Andrew Phillips and Owen Marecic - have been voted onto ESPN's Academic All-District 8 team, which was released today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

All three players will be included on the national ballot for final voting by members of CoSIDA.

Beeler, a three-year starter on Stanford's offense line, carries a 3.68 cumulative grade point average as a history major. Phillips, also a three-year starter, has a 3.50 GPA as a classics major while Marecic carries a 3.47 cumulative GPA as a biology major.

Marecic is also one of 16 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which honors the top scholar-athlete in college football.

To be eligible for ESPN Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing. Student-athletes are nominated by their respective institutions and then placed on a district ballot for voting by CoSIDA members. The top vote getters from each position are then forwarded to the national ballot.

Stanford, ranked 10th nationally, will play host to 13th-ranked Arizona Saturday at Stanford Stadium. Kick off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on ABC. Tickets are available at the Stanford Stadium ticket office, on-line at or by calling 1-800-STANFORD.
