STANFORD, Calif. - After our long weekend with meets at Chicago Style and University of Michigan, we got Monday and Tuesday off to rest and recharge our minds and bodies and get ready for our next meet at the University of Arizona. With only one day of practice last week, the team came in ready to go with a focus on details. Needless to say, the team did great with an outstanding practice and definite improvements on squeezing out all the little details. On Thursday we set out for the University of Arizona fired up and ready to go!
We started the night on bars, and everyone looked great! Shout out to the back three girls, Brownie, Peach, and Kris for their outstanding work and flawless routines! We carried our momentum from bars over to vault, where the vault lineup had a lights out performance and received one of the best vault scores of the year! On floor, the girls all looked awesome as they showed off their amazing dancing abilities and really pulled the crowd in. On our last event of the night, there was a last minute change in the beam lineup. Peach stepped in flawlessly and gave a great performance, just another example of the depth of our team.
We won the meet over Arizona and improved our season record to 14-0. Even though this wasn't our best performance, we proved how mentally tough and strong this team truly is. This meet was our third in an eight-day period, and we showed that we are a team that always gives 100% and refuses to back down from any challenge. This is the kind of team that we need to be in April when we challenge for a national title, and it is an incredible feeling to know that we are already at that point in February!
This Sunday, February 27th, is our last home meet of the season, and it is Senior Day! Come support our three amazing seniors as we take on Arizona State on Sunday in Maples at 2 p.m.!
Until next time, GO CARD!
