Release: 06/07/2004

June 7, 2004

(Main Text) Cherry Hill, NJ-The Stanford Men's Crew accomplished the finest results in school history at the 2004 IRA National Championships. In Grand Final Racing, the Men's Frosh Eight finished 5th nationally out of 24 entries in the Frosh/Novice field. This result marked the highest finish in Stanford Men's Crew history. Frosh Coach Jon Allbin noted: "We are extremely proud of how these Cardinal oarsmen raced throughout the season. We have high expectations for their contributions to the Varsity."

The Men's Open Four also raced in the Grand Final, finishing fourth.

The Varsity Eight posted the 10th fastest time recorded at this year's regatta in Thursday night's repechage. Finishing Thursday morning's heat behind Harvard and Oregon State, Thursday evening's repechage behind Yale and Dartmouth and Friday's semifinal behind Brown, the Eight rowed home on Saturday in uneventful fashion.
