Jan. 8, 2007

The 2007 men's gymnastics team will be facing off against some of the former Stanford greats on Friday, January 12 at 7:00pm in Burnham Pavilion for the Alumni Meet. This competition is considered to be one of the most entertaining of the year by all who attend. The meet allows the 2007 team a chance to gear up for its season and showcase its talent to the judges before competition begins. Also, the fans will be treated with exhibitions from the JDR Gymnastics Club.

There are 12 letterwinners returning from last year's squad, including junior David Sender and senior Dylan Carney, who were crowned national champions on the vault and high bar, respectively. Returning for his fifth year is head coach Thom Glielmi, who was named the 2006 NCAA West Region Coach of the Year. Assisting Glielmi for the third season will be J.D. Reive, named 2006 NCAA West Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

This Cardinal team will face a determined group of alumni, which tentatively includes such greats as Rico Andrade (`02), Sean Doolan (`06), Nate Downs (`06), Matt McLean (`03), and Ambert Yeung (`05).

This is sure to be an exciting, entertaining event and all are encouraged to share in the experience!

The team returns to action on Friday, January 19 in Berkley where they take on Cal.
